I always liked the red haired girl. Maybe because I was blonde, I thought being a red head would be fun! I like the way these two play off each other. I have more "little people" paintings in the works, but might put them on hold to finish some requested paintings. Will have to see what tomorrow holds. Cannot stop thinking of ways to paint these so I know there will be more.

What a wonderful day. Rained, but completed this painting, varnished and framed several pieces and had dinner and a movie with family. This piece was inspired by some friends of mine who are taking riding lessons. Their son is only 1, but loves to see the horses and I'm sure will be riding one day. This horse is actually special to me - over the course of many years, he has broken his leg. He is officially "retired" and does not play with the other little people. He needed to be painted.

I just cannot stop painting these little people. I am having as much fun setting up the reference pics as I did playing with them many years ago. I had a friend call me tonight to say she had found a person I have been searching for. Cannot wait to get him to do more reference pics.

How fun this was to paint. I really like how these look together in the Daily Paintings section of my Portfolio as well as how they look framed and hanging together on the wall.

Still having fun with toys. I thought this one would go well with the mom "Cruisin' " in her convertible. I am already thinking of my next 50 series. It will be very different from my first 2 series. Hope I can pull it off.

The reason this "k" is so special, is that it is the only block I had. I really wanted to paint one of these and since I only had the one - this is it. I can say that I am going to search for more letters since this has inspired me to do a larger painting with more of these. That is one of the reasons I really like painting daily, it has me looking forward to painting more and larger.

I'm glad we kept my Dad's marbles all these years. I was afraid to paint them for the longest time - too many reflections and keeping the round shape was intimidating. But now am glad I did paint them and want to paint more.

I just love the character of this little guy! I hope that my children do not behave this way at school. I know some mornings the mood they are in before getting on the bus is very close to what this little boy is demonstrating.

I couldn't do a series of toy paintings and not include a rubber ducky. I think I wore out the 45rpm record of Ernie from Sesame Street singing "Rubber Ducky you're the one. You make bathtime lots of fun!" I have had that song stuck in my head ever since I took the reference photo. Hope it makes you smile as you think of it (often).

The garage was one of my favorite accessories for the Little People. I still remember playing with it for hours. I am not sure how my parents put up with the "ding" of the elevator. I still have the toy and yes, the "ding" still works although sadly, the elevator does not move now...

Hard to believe how long it has been since I posted a painting. Summer sure went fast and kept me busy! I am now back in the "swing" of daily painting and have several prepped ready to be painted. This antique tin duck toy gave me a few ideas of some other subjects. You know you are "in the groove" when completing one painting has you already planning your next... so many paintings, so little time!

This is a portrait of my father when he was around 2 years old. The reference picture was one sent by my grandmother to my grandfather while he was serving in WWII. I am pleased to say it took the Blue Ribbon in Drawing category at the State Fair. I entered 3 drawings total and 3 oil paintings and was happy that all 6 were selected to hang for the Fair.
