#4 in Series 2 of 50 paintings in 40 days. I really thought painting this was going to go fast and I wanted something quick today. Well, after wiping the painting off the canvas 3 times, I think I finally got the result I was after. So much for fast! I should have known, sometimes the most simple of ideas creates a complex piece. I do love the wear on this baseball - hopes it comes across in the photo.

#3 in Series 2 of 50 paintings in 50 days. This one seemed like a nice compliment to the race car. Some boys like cars and some like airplanes.
I am trying to figure out the best way to photograph my art after completion. I only use daylight bulbs in my studio, but the dark backgrounds and wet oil will sometimes shine. I think this one, overall, isn't too bad, but I'm sure there are better ways. Let me know if anyone has a suggestion.

#2 in the 50 paintings in 50 days Series 2. I thought with the race car yesterday (boy themed) I should do something for girls. These are the original people my sisters and I played with. I think my mother kept everything related to them as well (so don't be surprised if you see more in the future). I remember all the fun we had playing with them and still marvel that we didn't die since they were made of wood and I'm sure had lead in the paint. Lots of pics taken today, so tomorrow will do a painting of an antique toy.

Well, I'm back at it. This series of 50 will focus on childhood toys/games. I was able in the last few days to get the first series all varnished and framed, so am really ready to start this new series. I have a few friends who are loaning me toys that have been in their families for some time. Just looking at them makes me anxious to paint. I hope you enjoy this series.

#49 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I have still been painting, but didn't post yet. Sorry about that if you are following things. I had several people ask for the first grape painting so thought I would do a different one.

#48 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I have learned that even though reds are sometimes expensive, you need lots of them! I could not find the right shade that I wanted and ended up mixing a few reds together with blue for shadows and naples yellow with white for highlights. I tried shading them using white and found that I really did not like "pink" for the cherry.

#47 of 50 paintings in 50 days. Yes, another cupcake. I cannot help it. They are so much fun and I did buy four when I got them - so I had to make sure they were all represented. Plus, I think they would look great grouped together.

#46 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I did try to warn you that I bought 4 cupcakes and you might be seeing more of them. I have discovered they are such fun to paint! The wrapper especially catches my attention. I still have one more photo reference, I don't know if I am done or not. Someone told me to do odd number groupings, so if I stop now - someone could buy 3 cupcake paintings to group together... sounds pretty good to me.

#45 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I did not get a chance to do this yesterday, so again - I am "catching up" by doing 2 paintings today. If I could only keep on the roll to do a painting everyday, but then also do a second painting on some days - I might actually build up enough to be able to display at more than one venue. I really feel like when I display, I should be placing new work all the time and sometimes that is difficult depending on if there are two displays going at the same time. This is one way to help increase options.

#44 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I love the name of this one - provided by one of my friends. I originally titled it "A'peeling Orange" and had someone correct me that it looked more like a tangerine. I guess that was a lovely compliment since it actually was a clementine and not an "orange". Thus this title fits it better.

#43 of 50 paintigs in 50 days. What fun to paint (not bad to eat either!!). I found a wonderful shop that all they make is cupcakes. I purchased 4 of them, so there should be more paintings coming. This was one of my favorite with the pink icing.

#42 of 50 in 50 series. This is was not posted yesterday, due to it not being finished. I felt awful not fulfilling the 50 paintings in 50 days "promise", but life got the best of me and I figure I am too old to stay up all night - so it had to wait until today. I think it turned out nicely when I allowed myself the time to do it. If you saw this post earlier, it was titled "Lemon Sour" but I receive title suggestions from a friend and this one seemed to fit very well.

#41 of 50 in 50 series. I didn't know vanilla ice cream could be such a challenge. Well, I think it finally looks like ice cream. Spent a good part of the day taking more reference pics (I got some wonderful cupcakes I cannot wait to paint) and also varnished and framed several pieces. I am finding doing the painting is the easy part - getting everything ready and finishing up for final showing takes alot of time. Kind of like trying to cook, I like the cooking part, but the getting everything from the store and the cleaning up after - not so much. Oh well, I won't stop cooking and I won't stop painting.

#40 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I liked the onion so much, thought this would be similar. One of the beautiful things with the onion, was the colors - so I missed that. I did like the shadows and layering effects though.
I did have someone request that I update my postings when paintings sell. So I will try to do that with each new posting.... Thanks for all the input - it really helps!

#39 of 50 paintings in 50 days series. I almost did not paint this one. Since I had the Latte in the blue cup and the glass of milk with a cookie, I thought I was repeating too much. However, the reflection of the cookie in the coffee cup kept drawing me back. I just can not resist a challenge. And challenging it was - but also very rewarding.

#38 of 50 paintings in 50 days series. I didn't think I would do another "pepper", but seeing this cut open - I just couldn't stop thinking about it and had to paint it. The variation of the color green amazes me. I am finding I really like the color, although I probably would not have listed it as one of my favorites before this. Maybe I will have to do green grapes to see how that green paints....
note: the title of this has changed thanks to several suggestions. The person that purchased this thinks (like me) that the inside of the pepper is beautiful, therefore the name fits..

#36 of 50 paintings in 50 days. I am not sure I am finished with this one. I like the impressionistic style, but not sure if I did it right. I will sleep on it and see what I think in the morning. I will post with another piece if I continue to work on it.

#35 of 50 paintings in 50 days series. This painting might be one of my favorites. I had to remain loose in brush strokes but use alot of color. I really like the way it turned out and it went much faster than some of the other paintings. Sometimes you need to have fun and let things flow.

#34 of 50 paintings in 50 days. Well, at least this is what I have for breakfast - although mine doesn't look this pretty. I am finding that by doing this (a painting evry day) I am finding confidence in changing things I don't like in the reference photo. When I took this picture, I really liked some reflections in the cup, but when painting - I found I could not make the reflections appear natural and that the painting is much better/stronger without them. Before I started this, I would not have felt comfortable changing a reference piece - so another lesson is being learned. I started this series to find my painting style and improve on that technique, however I am learning so much along the way, it is hard to imagine not continuing.

#31 in series 50 paintings in 50 days. This one was in my mind probably from the beginning of this series. I have been looking at the referecne photo for a long time and finally got the courage to paint it. As always, I see things I would like to change - but that is the learning part of painting. I love the drive to do something else and apply what I jsut figure out.

#30 in series 50 paintings in 50 days. I was thinking this wouldn't be too hard, it was just some green with a starburst in the middle and seeds .... wrong! This was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I think I still would like to work on the highlights to make it look "wet", but only so many hours in a day and one does need sleep.
