 oil 6X8
It is starting to feel more like fall and this painting makes me think of why I like the fall season. Although these were white pumpkins, you can see orange and green coming through. This was another weekly challenge piece, I just didn't get it done within the week to post on www.differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com I was please with myself that I finished this and "The Bean" within the same week. Not that I can 2 pieces every week, it sure is a boost when I do. I find that painting only brings on more ideas, so I hope to remain busy the next few weeks and see what I can do...

 6X8 oil on panel
I continue to work on Karin Jurick's weekly challenges for her blog: http://differentstrokesfromdifferentfolks.blogspot.com This week's reference was the sculpture in Millennium Park in Chicago. I have wanted to paint this for some time, but the only pics I had were from a family vacation while the sculpture was still under construction. I had a great time working on this piece and found I lost track of time easily. I really like Karin's concept of sharing her photo references. She is an amazing artist and business person. I feel like this was the inspiration I needed, not to ponder over my photos or set up still life in order to paint. By her providing the photo, I am ready to get right to the fun part of painting. I am hoping over time I am able to see improvement in my oils to truly be happy with the finished piece. I will never give up my colored pencils, but am finding when given the time to "clean up" at the end of the day - I like the look, feel and smell of oils.
